Steps
1. Nourish your cat several small meals everyday. Use the same everyday amount, but break into modest amounts.
Feed professional meals to cats with a history of rocks (struvites) in their bladder system. Most professional meals have substances that enhance development of acid pee. Struvites may type from attacks.
Do not supplement a professional diet with medications that enhance bladder level of acidity because if a cat has too much acid, it can develop a nutrient discrepancy, renal disease or a situation called metabolic acidosis.
Restrict a pet's intake of dietary nutrient magnesium to 40 mg per 100 kilocalories of meals. Commercial cat meals usually meet this standard. Too much nutrient magnesium can cause struvites to type.
2. Be sure your cat always has fresh, nutrient water that is fresh. Clean the pet's nutrient water containers regularly.
3. Provide enough kitty trash containers for your cat or cats. The concept is to have 1 more trash box than the number of cats in your house when practical. So if you have 2 cats, you should have 3 kitty trash containers.
Check kitty trash containers frequently and eliminate waste as soon as you see it. Clean kitty trash containers with nutrient water and detergent every time you modify the trash.
4. Keep changes in your pet's routine to a minimum. Try to give it at the same times everyday. Be aware that a modify in the weather or a move to a new house could induce a problem with a pet's bladder system.
5. Watch for symptoms of bladder attacks in cats.
Notice if the cat stresses or makes recurring efforts at peeing. Pay attention for any unusual sounds, howls, meows or whines while it urinates.

Look in the shower or on floor floors for pee. A cat peeing outside the trash box may be a sign of the cat has an disease. Some cats with UTIs prefer to pee on sleek, cool areas.
6. Take your cat to the animal medical practitioner quickly if you see blood in your pet's pee or if the cat cannot pee at all.
Warnings
Some cats susceptible to UTIs also could have other conditions, such as struvites and pee obstruction. If you suppose a pet's bladder system is completely obstructed seek immediate vet proper care. Death may result in 24 to 48 hours without catheterization or other treatment. A pet's urethra could be obstructed with mucuous, struvites, cells or necessary protein.
